This is my third pair of Salomons and hope to get the long millage I have from the others. The other two pair wore out at around 1,000 miles of walking each. I have only had these for less than a month so can't comment on that aspect. The fit however is much better. The last two pairs I bought were standard width and I had to go up a half size, from my street shoe size to get the width I needed at the toes. This of course made them a tad to long, leading to a few black and blue toe nails even with a piece of styrofoam placed in front of the toes. I have done 5 hikes with them so far, the longest only being 13 miles and the shortest 5. They held my feet perfectly. No bashing of the toes on the downhill tread or mashing together of the toes. I am very happy with them at this point and am pretty confident they will last as long as the others, because the construction is very similar. If you have wider feet. This model may be just the fit you are looking for.Very comfortable hikking boots. I tested in 12km trekking over different land types (mud, clay and stone roads) without problems. The waterproof material is very good and the sole has very good grip. This boots keeps the foots warm and allow they breath. Love these boots and thinking about buying another pair just in case I need some new ones in the future :DHiking. Walking. I have nerve damage to both feet from multiple back surgeries so I was concerned about support and comfort. So far I am happy with my purchase and would buy again.Lightweight, Goretex, 3-season, waterproof boot. This is my second pair. First pair holding up well. Bought another pair because Salomon discontinued this model and I like the XUltra3 better than the XUltra4. Probably too warm for Summer hiking. I switch to the low cut, non-Goretex, Salomon Ultra3 for Summer hiking.Been buying these same boots for the last 10 years. Pretty comfortable and water proofGood fit & good support for a mid. No test yet of how water proof they are due to very dry weather. Laces are way to use and don’t seem to loosen during hikes.I’ve had 5 pairs over the years and they have been very consistent in size and reliability. The grip is great but a little soft and wears a little quicker than most but it’s worth it. I’ve hiked hundreds of miles in them without the first problem. I’ll continue to buy them till they quit making them.I’ve updated this review based on my warranty claim for both boots splitting despite minimal wear.I’ve only ever used these for walking the dog, something well within their advertised capabilities. After providing numerous pictures Salomon told me there were no manufacturing defects and the split uppers on both boots were due to wear and tear. They offered me 15% off a replacement pair which I feel is derisory. To sum up, I’m extremely dissatisfied. Salomon have had the chance to remedy this situation but have fobbed me off. My advice is to choose another manufacturer as I will be in the future.......AVOID.Update on original review - 2 stars nowYes they are great for wide feet, after I have noticed a major flaw after wearing them for a few weeks. The boot doesn't close properly around the ankle, so the tongue sits outside of the boots neck. As a result the boot opens around the ankle on every step. This means that when wearing shorts on your hike every stone on the path jumps into the boot.Yes they are comfortable, but I can no longer wear them with shorts. These will be my long trouser boots. Major design flaw......BTW when I 1st purchased these boots Amazon was asking for £222 for them, they are now £107 (still cheaper elsewhere though)Original review - (was 4 stars)Ideal for people with wide feet. Very comfortable on a long walk. Love them. Had to return my boots from Amazon though (before I wore them out) as I found them for £120+ cheaper elsewhere. Glad I looked again before committing to these here.I wanted to keep them, i really did because they were comfortable (one size up), albeit a little narrow in the foot box (something to bare in mind if you have caveman feet). However, it pains me to say they failed the bucket test, my socks were soaking after a 30 seconds, being careful not to go over the tongue/goretex material. Not the brand they used to be.Ordered size 11 For walking boots I go up 1/2 size to allow for thick walking socks so i'm normally size 101/2 These were not size 11 So had to return them . Amazon didn't have the nezt size so ordered elsewhere (a specialist walking gear conpany) and they had a warnig on their site about these Salomen boots sizes being smaller than it should. and recommended going up 1/2 a size Very Poor Show Salomen Cant give zero stars so get oneI've had these boots for about 1 week now and they seem fine. Just a word of warning re the fitting. They do have quite a narrow fitting. I take a size 11 but Have quite broad feet and previous boots from various suppliers have caused no problem , but I needed to stretch these( stuff with newspaper) for a few days before wearing out on walks. They are now 'broken in' and are fine so not a problem just be aware when ordering.
