Asterisk undersleeves are designed to prevent chafing and improve comfort when wearing knee braces
Worn as an undergarment for knee braces
I really appreciated the guy who said to get the large. These fit perfectly, not too big and not too tight. My mid thigh (between middle of knee cap and crotch) circumference is 19 inches and mid calf circumference (between middle of knee cap and top of foot) is 11 inches. They're much longer than mid thigh and mid calf but I peel them over the brace and I figured this was the best way to give a useful measurement. Hope it helps someone else when they try to decide what size to get. Also, I only wear a brace on one leg and these come as a pair which is great when I have one in the laundry. They are stretchy so I don't dry them in the dryer but hang outside to dry to make them last longer. They stop the rubbing of the brace as well as keep the 'spongy' stuff on the brace from getting sweaty and nasty from wearing. And gosh, the price is right!I've know Asterisk for their off road motorcycle knee protection so I trusted that their undersleeves would be great. I was not disappointed. These are great. They are less than half the price of the prescription sleeves and are superior in every way. They have a vented material stitched into the backside of the sleeve for comfort/cooling. They have a nice tight elastic band on the top to hold the sleeve in place when folded over my brace. The material that they are made from is nice and stretchy without being too tight. And the elasticity does not go away. The package arrived with two sleeves. I used the sizing chart on the manufactures website and measured around my knee joint as instructed and chose the XL size. The chart was correct for me. But I have large quads and calf muscles.I highly recommend these sleeves. I am going to buy more now that I know they fit.I purchased these sleeves to wear under my Ossur CTI Vapor braces. I wear braces on both legs and prefer to wear sleeves versus just the braces. These sleeves are a fraction of the cost of Ossur sleeves and are make as well, if not better. The sleeves are made of a mix of cotton and Lycra. They are soft and will made. They are not at all binding and are not hot during the summer months. The length of he sleeves are long but I prefer them this way. I am able to fold over the band on the top of my braces for added padding. I like the sleeves so much that I moved away fro the manufacturers brand and purchased a second set.I like these very much they keep my braces from scratching my skin off. They also help them not to slide down all the time, but they do still slip after a while of sitting and standing. One thing to keep in mind is. If your thigh measurement is towards the high end of the size I would suggest getting the next larger size because the top elastic is slightly tighter that I would have liked. I will be doing that for my next pair. Not enough of a problem to return though. They are light enough to wear on hotter days.I was using leggings to help keep my knee brace in place. It concerned me that it would be too hot in the summer for leggings.I bought these and they work just as well as the leggings. I only have to readjust the brace once a day, maybe twice if I'm walking a lot, but that was the same with the leggings. I measured my knee and was supposed to use a large size for a 15 inch knee.I ordered the medium instead and am glad I did. It fits just a tad snug but does not cut of any circulation. It's very comfortable.I got one sleeve with my DonJoy unloader brace, and I wanted more so I could wash one while wearing another. Since these were half the cost of the DonJoy one, and I got a pair, I bought these. At first the elastic at the top seemed very tight, but it softened up pretty quickly, and now the work really well. The material is not as soft as the DonJoy sleeve, more like a t-shirt, and not a 100% cotton one. But they work as I expected, and are a fine companion to keep the straps of my braces from rubbing on my skin. These sleeves have greatly improved the length of time I can wear my braces before needing to readjust. While providing a comfortable barrier between my leg and the hardware, they also provide a higher-friction surface to the brace. This keeps things in place much longer. It was a welcome benefit I wasn't anticipating. I was simply looking for sleeves that would keep their shape a bit longer than those I'd owned previously. Anyone who wears knee braces often knows how aggravating constant adjustments can be. These sleeves have nearly eliminated these adjustments for me.I would definitely recommend these ahead of any other sleeves I've tried. While priced in pretty much the same neighborhood, they far out-perform anything else I've used.I had a few people on here help me determine what size to get and I ended up getting the large and I'm glad I did. I received them today and just tried them on. They fit snug but aren't too tight, which I didn't want. Fits well under my DonJoy knee brace and it's thin and breathable which is what I needed and wanted. Haven't tried them out for when I play basketball and start sweating, but I have no doubt these will do just fine and won't have my leg overheating. Better than trying to wear compression pants under my brace.
