Water damaged the ceilings in the bathrooms at our church building, so while making repairs, we decided to make some needed changes. Among those was installing quieter fans. I have Kaze fans in my home, so I ordered them for the building. Installation was easy since the ceilings were down anyway. (Note that the fans are larger than most.) We did run into two hiccups: The box is marked as needing 6-inch vent tubing. Nothing mentioned that there was a 6 to 4-inch adapter in the box, which was necessary for us since there was limited space. Also, the brackets are designed for a standard dry-wall ceiling. We have ceiling tile in the bathrooms, which is lower. We installed the fans and then used duct tape to "extend" the fan box down to the right level. One fan's exhaust had to run by the other fan, so the exhaust tube was squeezed. That raised the noise level of the fan, but not badly. I would highly recommend these fans.Extremely quiet. I would recommend spending a little extra to get the one with the LEDs. I had forgotten to turn this off so many times since you can't hear it runs. I ended up putting in a timer switch, so it will automatically turn off in case I forget.I ordered and installed 3 of these fans in our high-rise condo. They are very quiet. They replaced noisy fans that were high volume but had vibration problems not associated with being dirty. These new fans were quite easy to install-but issues related to the old fans made it a big job-for example the existing wiring was too short to reach and electrical work was required. Installation was easy. The flapper in one of the fans was dislodged during shipment and 2 required nylon bushings were found loose in the fan body or packaging material. The fans really do just slide into place once the exhaust connection is made. These fans have a 6" connector so I had to install a reducer on each fan-however I have not had problems related to reduced air flow because the fans were already oversized for our bathrooms. Here is where things became a problem resulting in extra work and complications: the flapper valves are not well designed and will actually tap against the metal reducer and make an annoying sound. This was caused by the reducer I installed and was easily fixed using a 6" exhaust extender about 8" long installed between the unit snd reducer. Even with this fix, the flappers do NOT close completely and actually allow significant backflow. There is at least 1/4" of space around the outer edges of the backflow flappers when closed. For the 6" outlet, this means that a minimum of about 2.3 sq inches of open area around the flapper valve when it is closed. (Area of a 6" circle is 28.274sq.in. minus area of a circle 5.75" of 25.967sq.in. = 2.3 sq in open area). The fans ARE extraordinarily quiet-in fact it is easy to forget they are on. I have since the original installation replaced the flappers with positive action flappers that close 100% when the fan is off. Even though these issues came up, I would still buy these same fans because of the power, quietness and especially ease of installation (because I had no access from above).I did all my research and read all the reviews before buying this unit. Said is super quite. I have a bathroom fan rated 0.8 sones that is more quiet than this. This thing is super powerful I gave you that but it is NOISY! If you have one of those cyclone fan on full then you know what I mean it being that loud. I thought it was my duct work but they are all done correctly with no kinks or obstacles.I will have to now buy a fan switch to help reduce the fan noise and also reduce the suction...unfortunately. I also won't want to spend the time and money for another fan and patch my ceiling being that this is a very large unit. This new bathroom fan was very straightforward to install. You can hardly tell it is running, and appears to get the water out of the bathroom air very quickly. The only problem I had with installation was not with the fixture itself but getting the exhaust to stay attached on the outlet pipe. I was not dealing with attic space, so only had a 1ft square area to work in. This makes it VERY difficult to attach the exhaust and not have it fall off when shifting the fan to its final position. Thankfully, ducktape seems to have done the job again! :)Since this model has a 6in to 4in converter, that made things much simpler to work with. Without that I would have had to play around much more with getting the exhaust set correctly. This is well designed, and I am quite happy with the fan.Installed it a month ago and it has been working great. This is the third fan I have installed, the other two were different brands/models. This one is way more quiet than the others and pretty simple to install. I did it in less than an hour. I have had it for 3 months and it works like a charm. I have a small bathroom but have two shower heads that are used simultaneously. This fan works amazing! This is a great fan. Very quiet. Wanted a fan with higher capacity and quieter than our existing fan. This dis the trick. Required a larger hole and bigger duct, but I knew this going into it since the fan is about twice the capacity of the old one.
