I bought this vest as an outer layer for early to mid-season bowhunting, mostly to reduce bulk when drawing a bow. For 40-50 degree mornings, this worked perfect over my underlayer and a hoodie. I'm 5'11" and originally bout an XL - it was huge! I re-ordered a L and it has plenty of room to fit over several layers. That being said, I still believe it is compact enough to wear as an insulating layer under a waterproof/insulated jacket for those mid-late November days. Great buy for the money, love the EHG gear in general.Bought this to wear under their other cold weather gear and it wasn't necessary. It is so nice however that I've kept it and wear it just as everyday clothing.Cozy warm and just abit bit snug about the waist, but well worth the money.so far it has worked just fine,not to bulkie so you can layer upJust the ticket for those cool 38 degree mornings hunting at 10,000 feet where I live in the rockies. Nice construction and heavy…unlike most comparable vests. Love it!
